Assertiveness Therapy · Online, in English
Professional psychological support for the conversation you've been avoiding for weeks, in English — from someone who thinks the way you do. A space to build the exact words for your situation, in an order that gives a boundary a better chance of landing as a boundary, not as an attack, without translating yourself first.
When you'd rather stay quiet
You know exactly what you feel. What you don't have is how to start saying it. You've rehearsed the conversation in your head a hundred times — in your head it sounds clear, in your mouth it tangles, and another week goes by without it. Meanwhile it doesn't get lighter: what started as one conversation you owed someone is slowly turning into a wall between you. For a lot of people who move between Spanish and English every day, that habit of silence has an extra layer. You learned it in a house where saying "no" sounded like disrespect, and now the same conversation has to happen in a language you never got to argue, negotiate, or set a limit in — you learned to be agreeable in it long before you learned to be honest in it.
Therapy doesn't tell you to "just communicate better" or to be more confident. It gives you the exact words for your specific situation, in an order that gives it a better chance of landing as a boundary, not as an attack — so the conversation you've been avoiding stops being something you carry and starts being something you can actually say.
Who's with you
I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years working with people and couples on the conversations they keep postponing, trained in systemic family therapy. I'm Colombian, based in Barranquilla, and I see clients online. But before any title, I'm someone who understands what it's like to hold two languages and two worlds at once. Many of the people I work with in English think in Spanish first — they migrated, or grew up shuttling between countries, or grew up in a home where keeping the peace mattered more than saying what they needed. You don't have to explain that part to me first.
A hard conversation is easier to build with someone next to you. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

Approach
Systemic-relational, not a technique checklist
Ricardo is licensed as a psychologist in Colombia (Professional License 106127) and works with international clients in private practice. He does not prescribe medication. Rules on cross-border online therapy vary by country and by state, so it's worth checking what applies where you live — and this never replaces local emergency care.
Book a Session With MeMy approach
I work from a systemic-relational approach: I don't hand you generic advice to "communicate better." We build the specific sentence for your specific relationship, and look at what's kept it unsaid — your story, the house you learned silence in, the demands that followed you across borders.
We don't stop at "just say what you feel." We build the sentence itself — naming what's happening, affirming the bond, stating the limit — in an order that holds up when you're actually in the room, not just in your head.
Tone, pace, the moment you choose — all of that changes whether a limit lands as care or as an attack. We work with that too, so the words don't just sound right in rehearsal, they land right when it counts.
The goal isn't only saying it once and feeling relief. It's you being able to set that same limit again the next time it's needed, and knowing beforehand what you'll do if it costs you something, because sometimes it does.
How we start
Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll set up a first 60-minute video-call session, at a reduced rate (50% off).
In that first session I listen to the conversation you've been avoiding — who it's with, what's happened so far, and what's kept you quiet this long. No rushed scripts, no generic phrases — just understanding, together, exactly what you need to say.
You leave with language that's yours, not a canned script, and a clearer sense of when and how to say it. If it feels right for you, we agree on a process built around you. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.
Look, let's not pretend here: I know I love you and I want a life with you… this situation is not sustainable for me.

If what's building up is less about one overdue conversation and more about protecting your time and energy long-term, Setting Boundaries may describe your situation better.
