Systemic Approach

When the distance grows

Loving each other isn't always enough. Sometimes a couple needs a space to find their way back to each other.

The same argument that comes back on a loop. Silence that weighs more than any fight. The feeling of living with a stranger, or of speaking two different languages. It doesn't mean the love is gone — often it means you've run out of tools to understand each other. For a lot of bilingual couples, that gap shows up somewhere specific: the language you argue in isn't always the language you feel safest in, or one of you carries a family script about relationships that the other one never learned growing up in a different country.

Couples therapy doesn't look for someone to blame or take sides. It's a neutral space where both of you can speak and be heard, understand the pattern that keeps tangling you up, and relearn how to communicate — so you can rebuild what's worth keeping, or decide with clarity and respect.

Who's with you

I'm Ricardo, and you won't be alone in this

I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years working with couples, trained in systemic family therapy — the approach that looks at the relationship itself, not just at two people separately. My job isn't to take sides. It's to help you understand each other and speak without hurting each other. Many of the couples I work with in English include one or both partners who think in Spanish first — one of you migrated, or grew up between two countries, or you're building a life together in a language that wasn't the one either of you grew up arguing in. You don't have to explain that part to me first.

A relationship is easier to work through with a third person who doesn't take sides. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

My approach

This is how I work with couples in therapy

I work from a systemic-relational approach: the focus isn't who's right, but the pattern that builds up between the two of you, and how to change it.

A neutral space, with no one to blame

I don't take either side. My job is for both of you to feel heard, so the problem stops being «you against me» and becomes «us facing this.»

🔄

Breaking the cycle that tangles you up

Almost every couple repeats the same conflict pattern. We identify it together so you stop falling into it over and over, and can speak without hurting each other.

💬

Communication that reconnects

We work with concrete tools to listen, express, and repair, so you go back to feeling like a team — not adversaries who happen to live together.

How we start

A clear first step, no pressure

1

You book your assessment session

Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll set up a first 60-minute couples session by video call, at a reduced rate (50% off).

2

We get to know your situation

In that first session I listen to both of you — what brought you here and how you're living the relationship today. No rushed diagnoses, no pointing fingers — just understanding, together, what you need.

3

We shape the process together

You decide with real information, not blindly. If it feels right for you both, we agree on a process built around your relationship. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.

The goal isn't winning the argument. It's being on the same side again.

A common question

What if your partner isn't convinced yet?

It's very common for one of you to take the first step. You don't have to agree on everything before you start — it's enough that both of you are willing to have one honest first conversation.

If your partner is still thinking it over, message me and we'll find a first step that works for both of you, no pressure on anyone. For many couples, that first session is where the conversation finally starts.
