Latino Therapist · Online, in English
You've probably already hit the wall: insurance that doesn't cover someone who understands your background, waiting lists for a therapist who gets it, or a good therapist who still doesn't quite understand why your family's opinion carries so much weight. I'm a Latino psychologist who sees clients in English, and I grew up carrying two languages myself.
When the system wasn't built for you
Maybe you searched for a therapist who understands Latino families and found a waiting list months long. Maybe your insurance only covers in-network providers who don't get why "just set a boundary with your mother" isn't that simple where you come from. Or maybe you found someone competent in English, but spent the first few sessions explaining what family means before you could even get to what actually hurts.
Leaving home, or growing up between two worlds, isn't just a change of address. It's carrying guilt for the decisions that were still right, missing people who are aging without you nearby, and doing all of that while explaining your context to a therapist who's never lived it. Here you don't have to translate yourself or your family first — we already speak the same context.
Who's with you
I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years of experience, trained in systemic family therapy. I'm Colombian, based in Barranquilla, and I work with clients across the United States, in English. Many of the people I see are bilingual — they think in Spanish first, but live, work, and often need to process hard things in English. You don't have to explain what it's like to be the one who translates for your parents, or why your family's opinion still carries weight from a thousand miles away. That part, I already get.
This is easier to work through with someone next to you who isn't guessing at your context. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

Built for your reality
This isn't generic therapy that happens to be in English. It's a process built from the start for someone carrying two cultures and building a life far from where it began.
I see clients in English, but I also understand what's underneath it: family loyalty, the guilt of distance, the pressure to be the strong one. You won't have to explain the background before we get to what matters.
I hold blocks through the week designed around Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time, so therapy fits your schedule, not the other way around.
If your plan covers out-of-network care, I provide a clinical receipt (superbill) that you can file yourself to request reimbursement.
How we start
Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form, including your US timezone. We'll set up a first 60-minute video-call session, at a reduced rate (50% off).
I listen to your story without you having to explain the cultural context first. We also sort out payment from the US, and, if you need it, how to request your superbill.
You decide with real information, not blindly: session by session, or the 5-session package if you'd rather have continuity. If it's not the right moment, I'll still point you toward what you need.
You don't have to choose between belonging where you are and staying who you've always been. You can hold both — and in therapy, we learn how.

Frequently asked questions
No. This works as private care, with direct payment per session. If your plan in the US allows out-of-network reimbursement, I'll give you a superbill, a receipt in clinical format, so you can file it yourself with your insurer.
It's a detailed receipt for each session, with the codes US insurers use to evaluate out-of-network reimbursement. You request it after your session and I send it by email; filing the reimbursement claim with your insurer is something you do directly, since Ricardo doesn't bill or coordinate directly with US insurance companies.
Ricardo is licensed as a psychologist in Colombia (Professional License 106127) and works with international clients in private practice. He does not prescribe medication. Rules on cross-border online therapy vary by country and by state, so it's worth checking what applies where you live — and this never replaces local emergency care. If your process needs a psychiatric evaluation or in-person care, he will tell you and help you look for it where you are. If your process ever needs a psychiatric evaluation or something that requires a US state license, I'll help point you toward a professional licensed locally.
I hold several blocks each week designed around Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern time. Message me and I'll confirm the closest available slot to your schedule.
We accept international card payment through a secure payment link. Message me on WhatsApp and we'll sort out the easiest method for you before your first session.
There's no fixed number of sessions. The assessment session exists for exactly that: understanding your situation and, honestly, proposing a pace that fits you. You can go session by session, or take the 5-session package if you'd rather have continuity.
