Sense of Purpose Therapy · Online, in English
You crossed a border, learned to work a whole life in your second language, checked the boxes you set out to check — and the emptiness showed up anyway. That's not ingratitude, and it's not failure. It's what happens when a goal gets treated like a finish line instead of a direction, without translating yourself first.
When arriving doesn't feel like enough
You had a concrete reason for leaving: the visa, the job offer, the safety, the chance to send something home. You got there. The papers came through, the promotion happened in a language that wasn't yours growing up, the mortgage got signed — and instead of the relief you expected, there's a quiet flatness that doesn't match how far you've come. You're not the only one who reaches the thing they were chasing and finds the finish line missing.
Therapy doesn't tell you to be grateful for what you have or to want less. It helps you see that the goal was never a fixed point you either reach or fail to reach — it was always a direction. And a direction doesn't run out, because the question changes: not "when do I finally arrive," but "what's the next step, right now, in that direction."
Sound familiar?
Years of pushing, and the goal still hasn't shown up. Every milestone feels like it should have been enough, and somehow isn't.
You gauge your progress against other people who left home too and already seem to have what you're working toward.
Every time you reach something, the line moves further out. There's never a point where you get to say "that's it, I'm there."
Who's with you
I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years working with people carrying this exact weight, trained in systemic family therapy. I'm Colombian, based in Barranquilla, and I see clients online. Many of the people I work with in English think in Spanish first — they left home for one clear reason, built a life around reaching it, and are now sitting with an emptiness that doesn't make sense on paper. You don't have to explain that part to me first.
Reframing a goal you've carried for years is easier with someone next to you. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

My approach
I work from a systemic-relational approach: your sense of emptiness isn't a flaw to correct, it's a signal that the goal you built your life around was framed as a destination instead of a direction.
You didn't fail by not "arriving." The goal was never a place — it was always a direction. Together we trade the impossible question ("when do I finally arrive?") for one that actually has an answer today: "what's the next step in that direction?"
We write your general direction in one sentence, with no deadline attached. Then we write the single next step you can actually take today — something small and concrete. One. Not ten.
Getting here took something — distance from family, a second language you had to build a whole life in, years measured against people who stayed behind. We make space for that cost too, instead of rushing past it toward the next milestone.
How we start
Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll set up a first 60-minute video-call session, at a reduced rate (50% off).
In that first session I listen to your story, what the goal you were chasing actually was, and what showed up instead of the relief you expected. No rushed diagnoses, no jargon — just understanding, together, what you need.
You decide with real information, not blindly. If it feels right for you, we agree on a process built around you. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.
The goal is a direction, not a place. The question is: what's the next step I need to take in that direction?
