When the pressure spills over

Stress isn't measured by the fight. It's measured by what had already been piling up.

The size of an argument doesn't measure how serious the topic was — it measures how much had been building up somewhere else. You raise your voice over the dishes, a text that took too long to answer, a plan that changed at the last minute. None of that was really about the dishes. Stress doesn't stay where it started; it spills into whichever part of your life is most sensitive right now, and for a lot of people that's the relationship, the job that already feels shaky, or the body that stops sleeping. If part of what you're carrying is stress that crosses a border — a job here, family counting on you there — the spillover has fewer places to land, so the people closest to you end up absorbing more of it.

Therapy doesn't ask you to just calm down or try harder not to snap. It helps you trace where the pressure is actually coming from, and gives you a way to name it before it turns into a fight about something else — so what's stressing you stops leaking into what matters most to you.

Ricardo De Castro King — Clinical Psychologist

Who's with you

I'm Ricardo, and you won't be alone in this

I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years working with people carrying more stress than they show, trained in systemic family therapy. I'm Colombian, based in Barranquilla, and I see clients online. But before any title, I'm someone who understands what it's like to hold two languages and two worlds at once. Many of the people I work with in English think in Spanish first — they migrated, or grew up shuttling between countries, or ended up holding the stress of two places at once, for their own life and for people back home. You don't have to explain that part to me first.

Stress that spills into your relationships is easier to trace with someone next to you. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

My approach

This is how I work with stress in therapy

I work from a systemic-relational approach: I don't look at the fight itself as the problem, but at what was actually building up around it — your work, your finances, your family demands — and where all of that lands once it has nowhere else to go.

🧠

Tracing it back to the source

We don't stop at the fight itself. We look at what was actually piling up that week — at work, with money, with family — so you can see what the argument was really about, and stop mistaking the symptom for the cause.

🌿

Your relationships feel it too

Stress doesn't stay in your head. It shows up as a shorter fuse, less patience, and fights with the people closest to you. We work with that too, so calm has somewhere real to land instead of just being an idea.

🌱

Naming it before it repeats

The goal isn't just getting through the week. It's being able to say "this is the stress talking, not you" before the next tense moment — and have the people around you understand it too.

How we start

A clear first step, no pressure

1

You book your assessment session

Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll set up a first 60-minute video-call session, at a reduced rate (50% off).

2

We get to know your situation

In that first session I listen to your story, where the pressure is coming from, and how it's showing up in your day to day and your relationships. No rushed diagnoses, no jargon — just understanding, together, what you need.

3

We shape the process together

You decide with real information, not blindly. If it feels right for you, we agree on a process built around you — alone, or with your partner if that's where the stress has been landing. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.

When you're carrying stress, you end up projecting it onto every part of your life — especially the parts that are most sensitive.

Is the stress landing on your relationship?

Sometimes tracing the source is easier with both people in the room. If the fights have been about stress that started somewhere else, I also see couples together, so you can name the real source before it turns into another argument.

Other processes I can walk with you through

If what you're carrying feels less like pressure spilling into your life and more like a loop of worry that won't turn off no matter how things go, chronic worry may describe it better.
