Controlling Relationship Pattern · Online · In English
Support for a relationship pattern that tightens the less support you have around you — when the people who'd normally notice, or answer the phone, or tell you something feels off, are a flight away. A systemic lens that looks at the relationship you're both inside of, not just at you.
Please read this first
If you ever feel physically unsafe with your partner, or afraid of what might happen if you tried to leave, please reach out for support right away — this matters more than anything below: in Colombia, Line 106; in the U.S., call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline); or the emergency line in your own city.
When love comes with a say in where you go and who you see
Maybe the check-ins got more frequent, not less, the longer you've been away from the people who used to look out for you. Maybe seeing a friend, going back to school, or taking a new job means a conversation first — sometimes a hard one — because it "worries them," and it's easier to ask permission before you do things than to deal with what happens if you don't.
This isn't about whether you love them — you might, and that can be true at the same time as feeling like this relationship has quietly become the only room you're allowed to stand in. It's not a flaw in you, and naming the pattern isn't the same as putting a label on your partner. It's a shape a relationship can take, especially when the distance from your own support network makes it harder to check what's normal against anyone else's life. Understanding it means finding your own words for what's happening — and figuring out, with support, what you actually want to do next.
Who's with you
I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years accompanying people through relationship patterns like this one, trained in systemic family therapy. That training matters here: instead of trying to diagnose your partner from the outside, or hand you a verdict about your relationship, I look at the pattern the two of you are inside of — how it formed, what keeps it going, and what it would take to change your part of it, whatever you decide to do next. I live and practice from Barranquilla, Colombia, and I work with clients online, in English. I think in Spanish too, and I understand what it means to build a life far from the people who used to have your back.
This pattern is easier to look at with someone beside you who isn't inside the relationship. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no strings attached.

My approach
I work from a systemic-relational approach: I don't diagnose your partner, and I don't hand you a script for what to do. I help you see the pattern clearly enough to decide, with real information, what's next.
We look at what's happening between the two of you — what each of you brings to it, what it protects, and what it's costing you — instead of reducing it to a label either of you has to wear.
Sometimes the clearest way to understand a relationship isn't a clinical term — it's the image that finally fits what you've been feeling. We work toward the words that make the pattern something you can actually think about, and act on.
If the people who'd normally notice something's off are far away, we look at how to reconnect with support — friends, family, community — without that becoming one more thing you have to explain or defend.
How we begin
Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll book a first 60-minute video session, at a reduced rate (50% off).
In that first session, I listen to your story — what this relationship looks like day to day, and what it's cost you to keep it steady, wherever in the world you're doing that from. No rushed diagnoses, no jargon: just understanding, together, what you need.
You decide with real information, not blindly. If it feels right, we build a process suited to you. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.
Wanting to stay and needing something to change can both be true at once. You don't have to have that resolved before you ask for support.
