Fear of Commitment Therapy · Online, in English

Trust doesn't have to be all-or-nothing, and neither does committing

Professional psychological support for fear of commitment, in English — from someone who thinks the way you do. A space to understand why one broken promise switched everything to zero, and to learn how to open the door in parts again, without translating yourself first.

When trust works like a switch

Fear of commitment isn't about the person in front of you. It's that trust learned all-or-nothing.

You want to build something, and part of you is already planning the exit. You open all the way or you close all the way — there's no in-between gear. One missed call, one broken plan, and the trust you'd built starts reading like zero, even in the parts that person never touched. You're not being dramatic and you're not «too much»: your trust learned to work like a switch, not a dial. For a lot of people who move between Spanish and English every day, that switch learned its habits early — watching someone promise to stay and then leave, a country, a job, a marriage, in a language that wasn't even the one the promise got broken in.

Therapy doesn't tell you to just trust again or just protect yourself for good. It helps you build a map instead of a switch — trust measured by area, not in one single verdict — so opening the door to someone doesn't mean betting everything you have.

Ricardo De Castro King — Clinical Psychologist

Who's with you

I'm Ricardo, and you won't have to map this alone

I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years working with people who struggle to commit, trained in systemic family therapy. I'm Colombian, based in Barranquilla, and I see clients online. But before any title, I'm someone who understands what it's like to hold two languages and two worlds at once. Many of the people I work with in English think in Spanish first — they migrated, or grew up shuttling between countries, or watched people they counted on leave before they were ready. You don't have to explain that part to me first.

Fear of commitment is easier to work through with someone next to you. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

My approach

This is how I work with fear of commitment in therapy

I work from a systemic-relational approach: I don't look at your fear of commitment as a flaw to correct, but as something shaped by your story, your relationships, and the moments when trust got zeroed out all at once.

🧠

Mapping trust, not flipping a switch

Instead of asking you to simply trust more or protect yourself for good, we build a map: how much you actually trust this person in specific areas — reliability, honesty, shared plans, emotional support — instead of one verdict that covers everything.

🌿

A pattern, not a label

We don't stop at naming a personality type or an attachment style. That box doesn't move you forward. What we look at is the pattern itself — where it started, what keeps it running — because a pattern can change; a label just gets carried around.

🌱

Committing again, not proving yourself

The goal isn't to force yourself into something before you're ready. It's for you to get back the closeness, plans, and decisions fear has been keeping out of reach — choosing on purpose, not out of pressure.

How we start

A clear first step, no pressure

1

You book your assessment session

Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll set up a first 60-minute video-call session, at a reduced rate (50% off).

2

We get to know your situation

In that first session I listen to your story, what's made trust feel like a switch instead of a dial, and how fear of commitment shows up in your day to day. No rushed diagnoses, no jargon — just understanding, together, what you need.

3

We shape the process together

You decide with real information, not blindly. If it feels right for you, we agree on a process built around you. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.

The goal isn't blind trust, and it isn't none at all. It's learning exactly where you stand — one area at a time — so you get to choose again.
