On-Off Relationship Therapy · Online, in English
Professional psychological support in English for the on-off relationship cycle — from someone who thinks the way you do. A space to understand why you return to what's familiar under stress, and build something new before the next crisis, without translating yourself first.
When you keep going back
You'd been doing fine for weeks. You felt like you'd finally left it behind. Then the stress hit, and you went back — the same person, the same pattern, the same place you swore you were done with. Now you're judging yourself hard for it. What happened isn't a character flaw: under pressure, emotion doesn't look for what's good for you, it looks for what's familiar. For a lot of people who move between Spanish and English every day, "familiar" got wired early — in a house where love came mixed with worry and reconciliation, or in the years you had to hold a relationship together in a language and a culture that weren't fully yours yet.
Therapy doesn't ask you to just have more willpower next time. It helps you understand what makes that old place feel safer than it is, and helps you build a new refuge — concrete enough that your emotions can find it too, the next time the pressure comes.
Who's with you
I'm a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years working with people caught in relationship cycles they can't seem to break, trained in systemic family therapy. I'm Colombian, based in Barranquilla, and I see clients online. But before any title, I'm someone who understands what it's like to hold two languages and two worlds at once. Many of the people I work with in English think in Spanish first — they migrated, or grew up shuttling between countries, or had to hold a relationship together in a language nobody taught them for that job. You don't have to explain that part to me first.
A relationship that keeps ending and starting again is easier to look at with someone next to you. If this feels like the moment, let's take the first step together — at your pace, no pressure.

Systemic-Relational Approach
Focused on relationship patterns
Ricardo is licensed as a psychologist in Colombia (Professional License 106127) and works with international clients in private practice. He does not prescribe medication. Rules on cross-border online therapy vary by country and by state, so it's worth checking what applies where you live — and this never replaces local emergency care.
Book a Session With MeMy approach
I work from a systemic-relational approach: I don't look at the pattern as something to shut down by willpower, but as your emotions choosing what's known over what's good — shaped by your story, your relationships, and the demands that keep it running.
Telling yourself to be stronger doesn't work when what happened is that your emotion looked for refuge, not logic. Under pressure, emotion goes toward what's familiar, not what's good for you — we look at why that place still feels like home.
The old pattern isn't fought in the middle of a crisis — it always wins there. What works is building a new refuge: a concrete routine, five to ten minutes, practiced calmly and repeatedly, until it feels just as familiar as the old one.
The goal isn't only to stop the back-and-forth. It's for you to build the kind of connection — or the kind of ending — you actually choose, instead of the one your emotions default to under stress.
How we start
Message me on WhatsApp or leave your details in the form. We'll set up a first 60-minute video-call session, at a reduced rate (50% off).
In that first session I listen to your story, what's been repeating, and how the pattern shows up between you and the other person. No rushed diagnoses, no jargon — just understanding, together, what you need.
You decide with real information, not blindly. If it feels right for you, we agree on a process built around you. If not, I'll still point you toward what you need.
What your emotions look for isn't what's good for you — it's what's familiar. A refuge is just a structure you already know.
